Tactics
- If two members of the team are killed, the third member will die as well.
- Mortars can be recaptured if the crew is killed.
- Use the smoke ability on trenches in order to nullify the accuracy of infantry firing through the smoke. Best used in conjunction with Pioneers equipped with the Flamer upgrade, whose accuracy isn't hindered by smoke. This is an extremely effective tactic against the British faction's immobile defenses.
- If you are setting up/packing up the mortar, or are moving with it when the crew dies, the mortar will not be dropped.
- The Granatwerfer deals more damage and has a longer range than it´s 60mm allied couterpart, but it is also less accurate.
History
The 8cm schwere Granatwerfer 34 (heavy grenade launcher model 1934) was the standard German medium mortar throughout World War II. It gained a reputation for extreme accuracy and rapid rate of fire although much of the credit should go to the training of the crews. The design of the weapon follows standard mortar design and it may be broken into three loads (barrel, bipod, baseplate) for transport.
